meet my gramps. he’s a veteran in the us army from world war 2. he was away from his family of 4 kids for a while. my mom was his little princess, and i guess i take after her when it comes to feeling his love for her. he was a quiet lolo from what i remember because we moved soon after i could start really remembering things. everytime we’ve gone home since we moved to canada, gramps has been such a smiley guy. never yelling like lola (though we love her all the same). my grandpa had alzheimers, so at times he’d think i was my mom. then i’d show him a picture that i always keep with me, a picture with him carrying me when i wasn’t even a year old. and he’d smile, and that would just make me tear up everytime. and leaving —- oh don’t get me started on leaving. leaving was the most difficult part of having the vacation. i’d hate saying bye, thinking it was the last time i’d see him. i would occasionally see them on skype, and i was glad i was able to see gramps a couple of days ago even though his eyes seemed empty, and lifeless. gramps, i know you can’t read this, but you’ll stay in my prayers, and everyone is going to miss you so much — you have left your legacy in our family. <3 see you in paradise..
